New Song

Hey guys!

So... I've been putzing around in my head these days trying to get inspired to write a new song. Its harder than you think. I've found that songs are absolute garbage if I write them about something that I'm not passionate about. So... how do I get passionate about all of the starving people in the world? I mean... its a horrible thing - but I've never really been super passionate about ending hunger. Call me a terrible person if you like - But I'm just being honest. So you might ask why i'm stressing about this. Just write a song about something else Grace. DER! But now. I have to write a song about hunger for this song writers challenge and then I have to perform it on 2/20 for a fund raiser. AH! I feel like I could pull out all of my hair right now. I've been thinking about it and tossing ideas off of my husband... And all I have is a couple quotes from Mother Teresa on hunger.

By the way - that woman was something else! I was looking over all of her quotes and was absolutely blown away by the freaking honest and frank wisdom of that lovely lady. The thing that really stuck out about her is that she was just such a revolutionary. Let me share a couple things that she said that I'm thinking about structuring a song around:

"Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat" – MT

"I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world." – MT

I love the idea of being a little pencil in the hand of God who is writing a love letter to the world. Who thinks of these things?! Mother Teresa. That's who. Revolutionary. The lack of love in the world is a greater poverty than hunger. Wow. Let that marinate for a little bit. Whew!

Anyway - those are my thoughts for right now... I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

And the horses are out of the starting gate!

So I decided that I would give the whole blogging realm a shot. What's not to love? I get to talk / type about anything with no interruptions. :) Its a middle child's dream come true! HAHA! I was pretty productive today - Called a bunch of people about music stuff, e-mailed them when they didn't answer their phones... I'm about to pick of the ol' gee-tar and tickle the strings for a bit. Maybe I'll write a song? I have to write one for a show that's coming up on the 20th - I hate slash love those kinds of shows. Hate - because I don't like being forced to write a song. Love - because it pushes me to be better, and I have another song at the end of it all. :) So what should I blog about? Maybe I'll start writing down why I wrote all of the songs and the thought process behind each one. What do you think? I'll start tomorrow. :) Peace and love, Grace
